Tanning is a PROCESS!! It takes 24-48 hrs for color to develop. So, it takes time to build a base tan. A base tan is your body’s natural defense to burning in the sun. Although frequent, consistent & repetitive visits are necessary to achieve a base tan, all tanners should tan in moderation. Moderation means to AVOID sunburn at all costs. This is also because you cannot use sun block in tanning beds. You need to start at a low exposure time & work you way up to the maximum tanning time allowed in any unit. The amount of time needed to get a base tan is different for each individual skin type. This is determined in person at the salon by the salon consultant.
Moderate exposure to the sun or UV light is absolutely necessary. The best way to activate the production of Vitamin D is through ultraviolet light. Vitamin D is one of the most effective ways the body controls abnormal cell growth.
